President's message on diversity
Our university's mission is to educate and research "technical science," a discipline that develops new technologies through exploration of the science that supports technology. Based on this mission, we cultivate practical, creative, and leading engineers and researchers, and conduct technological and scientific research that will open up the next generation. In addition, as a member of the United Nations Academic Impact, we aim to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing issues common to people around the world, such as global poverty, food and water shortages, urban problems, environmental degradation, and global warming. We are working on this.
In order to create new knowledge and value and achieve our university's mission, it is necessary to actively utilize diverse human resources with different personalities and abilities. However, in order to achieve this, it is essential that the human rights of all Toyohashi University of Technology faculty, staff, and students are not compromised, and that we create an environment in which it is easy to work and learn.
For this reason, Toyohashi University of Technology promotes diversity so that all faculty, staff, and students enrolled at the university can have a purpose in life and live a healthy and bright campus life without feeling inequality. Our university's basic philosophy of diversity is to create an environment where each individual can demonstrate their maximum potential.
In April 2020, our university's Gender Equality Promotion Headquarters changed its name to the "Diversity Promotion Headquarters" and began operations. In addition to gender equality, we promote diversity and respect all faculty, staff, and students as individuals, regardless of their attributes or characteristics such as nationality, culture, religion, language, age, academic background, or physical and mental characteristics. We will create a study, education, research, and work environment where all human rights are preserved, where each student can demonstrate their individuality and abilities, and create a campus where individuality shines through respect for diversity.
Toyohashi University of Technology, where all faculty members and students work together as a team to take on the challenge of changing the world through technology and science, hereby declares its commitment to promoting diversity.
